IN DEPTH SCENE STUDY/ACTING for FILM

Instructor: Peter Bryant

Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30

Students can start at any time of the month

Cost: $240.00 per 4 week period (a month) once a week, Tuesday or Thursday 4 classes

$380.00 per 4 week period (a month) twice a week, both Tuesday and Thursday 8 classes

For intermediate, advanced, and experienced actors who want to take their craft to the next level!  The class is designed to give you your power. Topics covered are detailed script analysis, deeper/more visceral emotional preparation, how to be more “alive” and confident in the scene via techniques that will make you more present and less “in your head,” body awareness, how to maintain truth in every moment while honoring the demands of the script, and addressing the specific individual needs of each student.

Peter’s In Depth Scene Study Classes come with the following incentives

  • Students will receive a tape of their scene, when the scene is “playing true.
  • Ongoing students receive a discount on all workshops.
  • Students receive a letter of recommendation upon request.

.

What is “playing true?” THIS IS IMPORTANT….There’s nothing to gain in preserving an actor’s subpar work, when I or the actor himself, feels he can do better. And if you plan on showing your work to anyone of influence, then you absolutely, positively, don’t want them seeing any of your work until you are ready.

.

When an agent, casting director, or, if lucky enough,  a director is looking at your work, they  assume they are watching someone worthy of being paid as a professional who can bring any character to life truthfully and effortlessly, while at the same time, having the correct grasp of the material.  When you can do all those things consistently, then all your scenes will be “playing true.” You don’t reach that level overnight. It takes a long time to be a very good (only kind to be) actor. And you don’t get a second chance for a first impression.

.

Who wins if you put yourself out there before you are ready? Nobody.  Who loses? Only everyone…..Your agent, the casting director, but you will have the biggest loss.

.

Who wins if you fire when you are ready and not before? EVERYONE! Especially you.

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ACTING

Instructor: Peter Bryant

Saturdays at noon

Students can start at any time of the month

Cost: $240.00 per 4 week session (a month) once a week, every Saturday. 4 Classes

This class is designed for people who are new to the craft. But it will also be open to intermediate and advanced actors who want to revisit and polish up on their fundamentals or have no other choice but to attend during this time slot. It will provide beginners with the “acting tool kit” – the essentials required to play a scene truthfully (if they don’t believe you, or, if YOU don’t believe you…game over!) while at the same time honouring the writer’s intentions (you will always have a story to tell)…Because that is an actor’s job. And when done well, the effect on the audience can be so visceral, that they are forced to assess their own existence, or shed tears of laughter or sorrow. And it will make studios and networks hire you again, and again, and again. Topics covered are scene study, the basics of emotional preparation, how to establish the realistic rhythm of a scene, how to establish and then execute truthful behaviour, basic auditioning techniques, basic on camera technique (it’s a little different than theatre), and relaxation techniques that will calm your nerves while setting the audition room or the set “a blaze.” If a beginner, you must take this class before taking the In Depth Scene Study/Acting for Film and Television Class.

Peter’s Fundamentals Class comes with the following incentives….

  • Students receive a letter of recommendation upon request.
  • Ongoing students receive a discount on all workshops.
